Frans Bistro & Bar is Villa Anna’s spirited little sibling on Dragarbrunnstorg. Here, traditional bistro fare meets playful contemporary style — unpretentious yet with high quality in every detail. Come in for a drink, stay for dinner.
Frans History & Atmosphere
Frans opened in March 2023 with a clear mission — to become a true Uppsala classic. A place focused on truly excellent food, vibrant atmosphere, and warm, knowledgeable service. The kitchen is led by Head Chef Robert Hägg, with experience from Oaxen, Lyran Matbar, and Villa Anna.
The space was designed by Olsson Lyckefors Arkitektur, drawing inspiration from Uppsala’s culture and iconic buildings. Six-meter ceiling height in the entrance, a cozy interior section facing the open kitchen, and restored design classics that give the space patina and soul.

Frans has one of Uppsala’s most accessible and flexible event venues — with space for up to 100 guests and the atmosphere of a true bistro. Perfect for weddings, corporate dinners, and private celebrations. We handle everything from food to ambiance.
